Sometimes you might want to be change the folder the output documents are being saved in when using Portant. This article will show you how to change the folder to suit your needs. You can do this by either moving the folder or by changing the folder in the settings.
In this article you’ll learn how to:
Edit the folder
Move the folder
Change the folder
When you first create a merge, after connecting your 'source', Portant will create an output folder in the same location as your template file. You can open this folder by clicking 'Open' in the top right hand corner of the Document Outputs box. The folder name will be: '*Template name* [Outputs]'.
The name of this folder can be changed to suit your needs (Portant will always remember to save the created documents in this folder). To do this, click the 'Open' button and then click on the folder name at the top of the page and select 'Rename' from the menu that drops down. Enter the new name and then click 'OK'
The folder that Portant creates can also be moved anywhere within your Google Drive (Portant will always remember to save the created documents in this folder). To move the folder, click 'Open' in the top right hand corner of the Document Outputs box.
Then when the new page opens, click the folder name at the top of the page and select 'Move to' from the menu that drops down.
Select the new folder location and then click 'Move here'.
You can also click the 'New Folder' icon in the bottom left hand corner and create a new folder if you need.
To change the output folder, you need to open the Data Merge Settings, by going to Data Merge > Options.
Then scroll down to the Output Folder section, here is where you can change the output folder by clicking the 'Change Folder' button. In this section, you can also see the name of the current folder highlighted in blue.
We created Portant in 2021 and the feedback we have received since then has been very helpful and greatly appreciated. If you have any feedback please feel free to send us an email at contact@portant.co
