Did you know that Portant allows you to request additional information during the signing stage of a document—not just the signature itself? This feature is especially useful when you need to collect specific details from the signer, such as initials, email addresses, or confirmations. 🤩

In this article, you will learn how to:

Request Info On Signing

  1. Request Info On Signing

Once you’ve created your workflow with a Signature Request and added the Signature and Date placeholders to your template, you can also include the following options:

  • Initials – Allows the user to enter their initials. This is especially useful in contracts where initials may be required on each page.

Note: In case you require initials on all pages, you must insert the initials field on each page of your template.

  • Text – Enables users to enter text-based information such as email addresses, mailing addresses, or any other required details.

  • Checkbox – Allows the user to check specific options in your document. This is commonly used in contracts to confirm agreement with terms and conditions, for example.

To insert these fields into your template, simply click the "Insert" button located in the Placeholders table on the right-hand side of your screen.

Next, place the selected field anywhere within your template.

Once you're happy with the layout of your document, you're ready to run the automation.

When the signable document is received, the recipient will be able to enter the required information during the signing process.

After filling out the required fields, the user simply clicks "I Agree" to submit the document.

And lastly, here’s a look at the final document:

Note: To make these fields mandatory in your documents you need to enable the "Require all fields to be completed" option in the Template Block of your Portant workflow. Simply toggle it on to ensure all required information is provided before submission.
