Signature Link Expiry

Set a time limit for how long a signature request remains active

When sending documents for signature, controlling how long a signing link remains active can be an important part of managing risk, pricing validity, and deal timelines. Signature Link Expiry gives you more control over your document lifecycle by ensuring signing links automatically become inactive after a set period.

In this article you will learn about:

  1. What Signature Link Expiry is

  2. Why you might want to use it

  3. How to enable it

  4. What happens when a link expires

When you send a document for signature, you may not want the signing link to remain active forever. Quotes, contracts, and proposals are often only valid for a specific period of time.

Signature Link Expiry allows you to control how long a signing link remains active. After the expiry period passes, recipients will no longer be able to sign using that link.

This is useful when:

  • A quote is only valid for a limited number of days

  • Pricing or commercial terms may change

  • You want tighter legal control over unsigned documents

  • You want to create urgency in the sales process

To enable expiry on a signature request:

  1. Open your Workflow.

  2. Click on the Signature Request block.

  3. In the configuration panel on the right hand side, locate the Expire Signature Request toggle and turn it on.

  4. Set the number of days the link should remain active.

Once enabled, every time that workflow runs and sends a signature request, the signing link will automatically expire after the specified period.

How It Works

After the document is sent:

  • The signing link remains active until the expiry date.

  • Recipients can review and sign as normal during that period.

  • Once the expiry date passes, the link becomes inactive.

If someone attempts to sign after expiry, they will see a message explaining that the signing link has expired.

What Happens After Expiry?

Expiry does not delete the document or remove it from your records. It simply prevents further signing through that specific link.

If a document expires unsigned, you can:

  • Generate and send a new signature request

  • Update the document and resend

  • Adjust the expiry settings and rerun the workflow
