Email Drafts in Portant Workflows
Did you know that Portant now allows you to add an Email Draft to your workflows? 🎉 This feature is extremely useful when you don’t want emails to be sent immediately after your documents are generated, or when you’d like to review, edit, and even add extra attachments before approving the email for sending.
In this article, you’ll learn:
How to add an Email Draft Block to your workflow
How to review and send draft emails
How to add an Email Draft Block to your workflow
Open your Workflow in Portant.
Click on the Email Block you want to configure.

3. On the right-hand side panel, locate the toggle labeled “Generate draft for manual sending.”
4. Enable this toggle.

Once enabled, you’ll notice that the Email Block now indicates that emails will be saved as drafts instead of being sent automatically.

How to Review and Send an Email Draft
After your automation runs, you can review the draft email before sending it:
Go to the Outputs tab.
Locate the automation run that shows an “Email Drafts” button next to it.
Click on Email Drafts to open the draft email.

Note: You can also access the draft directly from your inbox:
You’ll receive an email notification.
Click “Open in Portant” in the notification email to be taken directly to the draft.

Once you’re in the Outputs tab:
Click on the email subject, as shown in the image below.

2. Make any necessary changes to the email content.
3. Add additional attachments if needed.
4. When you’re happy with the final version, click Send.

After sending, Portant will clearly indicate that the email has been successfully sent ✅
