Can't sign in, or signed in to the wrong account
Portant has no password of its own. You sign in with Google or Microsoft, and your Portant account belongs to the email address and the provider you used the first time you signed in. Most sign-in problems happen when a different email or a different provider is used later.
How sign-in works
- One Portant account = one email address + one sign-in provider (Google or Microsoft).
- Signing in with another email address opens a different Portant account, even when the new address belongs to you. That account starts empty.
- There is no button to change the email address or the provider of an account. To move to a new address, see Change your login email or transfer your account.
- The email address for invoices is separate. Changing it does not change how you sign in.
User already exists with a different auth provider
You may also see "Please use the same method of login". Both mean that your email address is already linked to Portant through the other provider. For example, you signed up with Sign in with Google and now chose Sign in with Microsoft.
- Go back to the sign-in page.
- Choose the provider you used when you first signed up.
- Sign in with the same email address.
If your browser keeps choosing another Google account, open a private or incognito window and sign in there. If you need to switch to the other provider, or your company moved from Google to Microsoft, contact us with the email address, and we can change it on our side.
You signed in, but your workflows are gone
You are most likely signed in to a different Portant account, with a different email address.
- Check the email address shown in Portant's settings.
- Sign out, then sign in again with the email address that owns your workflows.
- If you use several Google accounts in one browser, sign out of the ones you do not need, or use a private window, so Google does not pick the wrong one.
If your old email address no longer exists, for example after a company domain change, ask for an account transfer.
The sign-in returns you to the login page
- Open a private or incognito window and try again.
- Turn off any ad blocker or privacy extension for
app.portant.co,accounts.google.comandlogin.microsoftonline.com. - If you sign in with Microsoft, your Microsoft 365 admin may need to approve Portant. See Approve Portant in Microsoft 365.
If it still loops, send us a screenshot through the support chat.
Google keeps signing you in to the wrong account
Google remembers which account you approved for Portant. To make Google ask again:
- Open the Google permissions page for the account you do not want to use.
- Search for Portant.
- Choose Delete all connections that you have with Portant, then confirm.
- Sign in to Portant again with the right account.
